As I sit here writing this, I must confess that I am overwhelmed with an innate sense of gezilleg in the air.
It’s a feeling that inevitably spurs a new era of creativity within me, a welcome reprieve from the sun drenched days of summer into a blanket of autumnal bliss that wraps me up like my favorite cardigan.
Now you might be wondering what on earth “gezellig” means, and to that I say, it might just become your new favorite term. Gezellig is a Dutch expression we learned (and loved) while living in Amsterdam – that does not quite have a direct english translation.
But I’ll try to do just that – gezellig is the wonderful feeling of coziness that envelopes you when you’re content doing things you love, with the people you love.
And, for curious minds, a few examples of gezellig…
It’s wandering through cobblestone streets in a small town in France as the sun goes down, warm light spilling out of the centuries old houses as you walk by. It’s grabbing a glass of pinot noir with friends at a pub in the english countryside, the warmth of the fire and shared laughter filling your soul. It’s the flakes of a warm buttery croissant spilling over your new wool coat, your mauve lip stain leaving a mark on the cinnamon latte you just sipped. It’s a woody santal candle burning in your office as soft jazz plays over your speaker, your creativity flowing from within.
It’s finding the magic in the small moments of everyday.
It’s a feeling of intangible contentment that fills your entire being with warmth.
It’s a feeling I’m bringing to all areas of my life this season, one which is filled with a new era of creating. And it’s one that I hope finds you this season as well.
So here’s to the art of gezellig this season – and embracing the beauty around us.

Wayfarer is our sister brand, a project that holds a special place in our hearts and is so very close to crossing the finish line. Wayfarer is the home to unisex fragrances and exquisitely made travel goods inspired by the globes most iconic locales. A travel emporium – un maison de voyage, if you will – created for the curious wanderers and star crossed dreamers.
The debut fragrance collection launches later this fall. We’ve designed and developed the brand, website, photography, and product design of each element of Wayfarer.
